Cause of Pipeline Internal Damage
Pipeline internal corrosion was the main cause of the problem as the pipes were carrying highly caustic material which ate through the pipeline coating. Pipeline Rehabilitation Challenges Presented
Prior to rehabilitation application the pipes had to be prepared to diminish future damage due to leftover corrosion. The pipe was cleaned thoroughly using water and mild abrasives to make sure no particulates would cause problems during application. The pipes also had to be inspected and monitored to make sure pipe strengthening procedure was easy and possible future damages can be prevented.
ProAssure Wrap Extreme Application Details
The site of the pipeline internal damage was first measured and identified. The extent of the pipe defects was also considered and since the pipe is transporting caustic materials. The parts with the most damage and those which were showing gradual corrosion damage were prioritised. The repair site was carefully prepared by cleaning it using a mild abrasive and removing any particulate matter or liquid. The pipe surface was monitored, dried, and checked thoroughly before pipeline wrapping application began. The total length of the applied ProAssure Wrap Extreme was 12 meters for the longer and badly damaged pipes and 2 meters for the smaller pipes.
