|Types of Defect||External Corrosion|
|Length of repair||0.3 meter|
Cause of Damage
The external coating of the pipeline was showing signs of corrosion largely caused by environmental factors. The pipe also carried sea water which due to unmonitored leaks caused external corrosion. The pipes also had small cracks wherein rust came from.
One of the main concerns about the application was how the find the leaks. The entire length of the pipeline had to be examined and monitored for possible leaking. The damaged pipes also needed to be cleaned and dried properly so that the initial coat it. Once the affected length and pipes were determined it was marked and cleaned.
The site of the damage was first measured with leaks being plugged up first. Then the length of the pipe was thoroughly inspected for other defects such as deformities and leaks. The exact length was determined to be around 0.3 meters for one pipe. The pipe was given a preparatory coating and preparation before the first layer of ProAssure™ Extreme Wrap was applied to the area.
