Cause of Underground Pipeline Damage
The pipeline damage was caused by an excavation work which hit the pipe and caused it to leak. There was also some external metal loss caused from the excavation. The loss is possibly due to the movement of small and large earth particles during the excavation process.
Buried Pipeline Repair Challenges Presented
The main challenge was to doing it as safely as possible and making sure that no leaks were left unattended. Since the pipe was buried underground there was also the challenge of making sure that the pipe is free from any debris. The pipe was cleaned thoroughly using water and mild abrasives to make sure no particulates would cause problems during application. The pipeline repair application also needed to be done during a sunny day without much wind so that particles and the wind cannot cause problems during application.

Prior to Proassure Wrap application, the site of the damage as well as the general length of the pipe was thoroughly inspected for defects and minor damages such as scratches, nicks, and bents. The length had to be determined properly and any scratches properly cleaned and filled before application.
